William Preston Point forms the northwestern tip of the peninsula, with beach WA 1623 extending 1 km northeast from the point to the beginning of the northern shore of the peninsula. The southern half of the beach is backed by a low sandy foreland that narrows to the north. The beach is usually calm and fronted by 300 m wide tidal flats, which narrow to the south where the tidal channel for the bay lies 100 m off the beach. As a consequence a landing is located 500 m south of the beach, with a vehicle track to the southern end of the beach.
