Ningaloo beach (WA 1534) commences in the southern corner of the embayment and trends north as a 4.5 km long convex beach, with Ningaloo Homestead located 200 m in from the western apex of the beach. It then continues north-northeast to the next small embayment at the Ningaloo shearing sheds. Continuous reefs front the beach and extend 5 km seaward of the northern end. The beach is backed by vegetated parabolic dunes, with the abandoned Point Cloates Lighthouse on the crest of a 40 m high dune. The homestead is located in a deflation basin between two parabolic dunes.
