A 1 km long section of low bluffs separates Torpedo Bay from beach WA 1596 that continues to the northeast for 1 km to the next section of low bluffs. The Five Mile access track leads to a car park at the southern end of the beach, with other tracks reaching the centre and northern end of the beach, which is backed by semi-stable foredunes. The fringing reef extends 600 m offshore, with low waves reaching the steep beach, and occasional outcrops of beachrock and bluffs along the shore.
