S Bend beach (WA 1075) is located west of the prominent S bend in the Brand Highway. A closed track leads from the rear of the S Bend caravan park across the dunes, otherwise there is public access in the north via Lucys Beach access. The beach extends straight for 4.6 km between the northern end of Flat Rock and a prominent sandy foreland attached to a 150 m long section of shore parallel calcarenite. The entire beach is paralleled by a line of calcarenite reefs located 200-300 m offshore. These lower waves to less than 1 m at the shore, where a combination of reflective to low tide terrace conditions (Fig. 4.261), together with patchy outcrops of calcarenite dominate. The waves and reefs induce a number of permanent rips along the shore.
Beach Length: 4.6km
