Beach WA 1122 extends north-northwest from Shoal Point for 5 km. It is paralleled by the submerged reef, which emerges at Sandlewood Bay. The reef lies 400 m offshore permitting higher waves to reach the shore and break across a 100 m wide rip-dominated surf zone. The reef emerges to the north and some shallow reefs and reef-induce rips occupy the northern few hundred metres of the surf. The entire beach is backed by vegetated, generally deflated dune surfaces extending 2-3 km inland, with 4 WD access via Sandlewood Bay.
