The steep beach (WA 1105) consists of an exposed 400 m long section of sand bordered by the platform-fronted beaches to either side together with some calcarenite outcrops along and off the beach. Waves average about 1.5 m resulting in a 50 m wide surf zone dominated by two permanent rips with some good beach and reef breaks to either side of the river mouth.
