Blue Holes beach (WA 1132) is a sinuous 1 km long, west-facing platform beach that extends north from Jakes beach to Chinaman’s Rocks at the mouth of the Murchison River (Fig. 4.280). The beach is composed of medium sand, pink in places, which produces a relatively steep, soft beach. However it is fronted by a near continuous low tide rock flat waves breaking heavily on the rocks. There are breaks in the rocks producing the ‘blue holes’ or tidal pools, with strong rips flowing out of the holes. The road to Red Bluff runs along the top of the 20 m high dune-covered bluffs 100 m behind the beach and connects to three car parks and a lookout. The car parks provide access either side of Blue Holes and to the southern hole in the platform.
