Beach WA 1135 commences on the northern side of the river mouth in the open west-facing Gantheaume Bay. It is a high tide sandy beach fronted by a straight beachrock intertidal reef/platform. It continues essentially uninterrupted to the north for 13.5 km terminating about 2 km north of First Fence. The beach receives waves averaging about 1.5 m, which break heavily on and at time seaward of the reef, only reaching the beach at high tide. In some places the reef has been breached and partially eroded and surf and strong rips are generated in the gaps. The beach is backed by dune-draped calcarenite that rises from 90 m in the south to 160 m in the north (Fig. 4.283). Four wheel drive tracks run along the tops of the cliffs with occasional access down to the beach
Beach Length: 13.5km
