Kalbarri Beach (WA 1133) is the main swimming beach for Kalbarri. It is also known as Chinaman’s beach, and is located just inside the river mouth on the 300 m long spit of bare sand that extend north in lee of Oyster Reef. This beach is in full view of the backing town and has a large car park just off the Red Bluff Road. Waves break over Oyster Reef and a second northern reef and average less than 0.5 m at the steep, barless beach. There are a few reefs off the southern end while strong tidal currents flow in the channel parallel to the beach and around the tip of the spit and into the river.
