Nancy Beach (WA 1129) faces west and runs 700 m north of the bluff to the low rocks and bluff section that separate it from Jakes Beach. It is composed of coarser sand and in interrupted by a number of rocks and reefs immediately off the beach. Waves average 1-1.5 m and tend to break heavily on the reefs or as a heavy shorebreak on the steep, soft beach. Wittacarra Creek is located towards the northern end of the beach and usually blocked by a steep berm. A tracks runs along the southern side of the creek to the beach providing 4WD access for beach fishers and during calm conditions beach boat launching. A small plaque at the creek commemorates this site as the spot of the first permanent white ‘settlement’ in Australia. In 1629, two of the mutinous crew of the Batavia wreck were permanently castaway at this location. Jakes is the name of Kalbarri’s best surf break located on Jacques Point and the adjoining beach. The point consists of a wide red sandstone rock platforms, with the left break running along the northern edge of the rocks. There are two car parks on sandy bluffs overlooking the point and beach and a third on the foredune, but no facilities
