Beach WA 1417 forms the shoreline of a 1.8 km long series of beach ridges, which are part of 1.5 km wide beach ridge-salt flat plain composed of three to four sets of crenulate beach ridges and recurved spits, located on a 2 km wide supra- to intertidal flats. The beach is a low west-facing, very low energy shoreline fronted by a mixture of irregular sandy tidal flats and some linear beachrock reef along its northern end. Land access requires transversing the salt flat.
