Beach K 451 is located at the western tip of the northern peninsula that separates the two rivers and looks out across the outer mouth of Hunter River. The 300 m long beach faces northwest and consists of a strip of high tide sand, backed by densely vegetated sandstone and basalt boulder debris and slopes rising steeply to 150 m. It is bordered by rock debris and fronted by sand flats, with some beachrock exposed along the lower beach.
