Five kilometres to the west is Wangarlu Bay which contains two low energy beaches. The first is 2.6 km long beach NT 171. This is a relatively straight southeast-facing strip of high tide sand, backed by vegetated 10 m high bluffs of the coastal plain and fronted by 200 m wide mud flats.
