Much of Galiwinku is located above the 20-30 m high red laterite Gorabi Cliffs, with the bluff-top landing ground forming the northern boundary of the town. Two small west-facing beaches are located at the base of the bluffs. Beach NT 716 is a narrow 100 m long strip of high tide sand wedged in between the base of the bluffs and the fronting 50 m wide rock flats.
