This reef also forms the western boundary of 500 m long beach NT 610, a similar beach fronted by ridged sand flats, but with prominent rock reefs and scattered mangroves to either side. To the south of these beaches is the deeper part of the bay occupied by Nungbalgarri Creek. The creek occupies a 2 km wide drowned valley and has a 200-300 m wide mouth. It meanders through about 1500 ha of mangrove forests, which extend up to 10 km inland. An older mangrove-fronted series of recurved spits extends for 3 km down the western side of the creek mouth, with a smaller 500 m long series of recurved spits on the eastern side. Both represent the terminus for sediment moving deep into the bay.
Beach Length: 0.5km
