Five hundred metres to the east, in a small embayment bordered by rock flats and low bluffs, is 250 m long beach NT 691. The beach is backed by low scarped bluffs, fronted by sand flats, and faces north across a 3 km wide west-facing mangrove-lined embayment. The northern side of the bay is a low rocky point which forms the southern boundary of beach NT 692. Sand moving around this point has built a 2 km long series of spits along the northern shore of the bay, the most recent fronted by continuous mangroves.
