On the south side of the reef is beach NT 397, a curving 1 km long beach, with a central projection in lee of continuous rock flats, and with rock flats dominating much of the 300 m wide intertidal zone, apart from sand flats in lee of the reef. Dense vegetation extends down to the back of the beach.
