Beach NT 420 extends east of the Gurig National Park boundary and into Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land and Murgenella Wildlife Sanctuary. The beach begins on the eastern side of a small tidal creek and extends east for 1.2 km to the next tidal creek. Most of the beach is backed by a 200 m wide series of casuarina-covered beach ridges, with more dynamic spits associated with the creeks at either end, as well as some salt flats in the approximately 100 ha infilled estuary. The beach receives wind waves averaging 0.5 km, which break across a 400 m wide sand flat, containing up to six low sand ridges
