Beach NT 1428 extends from the south side of the foreland for another 2 km to the northern end of a 500 m long section of low rock bluffs. Reef and patchy sand flats connect the island with the beach, with the flats narrowing to either end of the beaches. They are backed by a largely active transgressive dune system that contains active parabolics extending up to 1.5 km inland and to heights of 24 m. These in turn are backed by a 100 ha salt lake
