Beaches NT 679 and 680 occupy the western tip of the island and form the eastern head of the Woolen River mouth. Beach NT 679 is a 250 m long west-facing strip of high tide sand fronted by irregular but continuous intertidal rock flats. The rocky southern end of the beach forms the western entrance to the river
