Mangroves front the shore immediately east of Tree Point for 5 km until beach NT 36. The 100 m long beach occupies a gap in the mangroves. It consists of a low energy high tide sand beach, fronted by 800 m wide mud flats bordered on both sides by mangroves as well as some beachrock toward the eastern end. The mangroves here and for 2 km to the east front two previous active recurved spits that impound a small central tidal inlet
