Beach NT 44 is a 2 km long, west-facing high tide beach, bordered by low beach-fronted bluffs, and backed by a 1 km long largely infilled lagoon, which flows across the northern end of the beach. A section of mangroves grows between the creek mouth and the northern point. The beach is fronted by a narrow strip of sand then mud flats. The two northern beaches (NT 45 & 46) each consist of a bluff-backed strip of high tide sand with fronting mud flats.
