Beach NT 31 faces east into the main Port Keats tidal channel and consists of a curving 2.3 km long beach, initially fronted by 1 km wide sand flats. It narrows to less than 100 m along the southern half of the beach, which is bordered by the deep channel with its strong tidal flows. The beach is backed by a 500 m wide series of beach ridges to recurved spits.
