Beach NT 43 commences on the northern side of the river mouth and extends north for 3.5 km to the first of the low bluffs. The beach consists of a 50 m wide, high tide sand beach, fronted by intertidal mud flats up to 1.5 km wide, together with the river channel cutting across the shore and mud flats (Fig. 5.8). A vehicle track reaches the northern end of the beach where there is a settlement of several houses.
