Charles Point marks the northwest tip of the Cox Peninsula. The Radio Australia transmitting towers are located in lee of the point. Apart from the towers and a lighthouse located 1.5 km east of the point, there is no other development in the area.
Beach NT 111 is located on the eastern side of the point. It extends to the southwest for 1.5 km before being fronted by a 300 m wide band of mangroves. The beach consists of a moderately steep high tide beach, cut in the centre by a small tidal creek, which drains a backing 5 ha mangrove-filled lagoon. The entire beach is fronted by 500 m wide rock flats, apart from the sandy ebb tide delta of the creek.
