To the east of beach NT 881 is an undulating mangrove-lined shoreline that extends for 7 km to the 500 m wide mouth of the Goromuru River. On the eastern side of the river and for 12 km to Cliffy Point is a 500 m wide band of mangroves, backed by salt flats up to 10 km wide. On the northern side of the 15 m high point is 1.2 km long beach NT 882, the only beach on the eastern shore of the bay. This is a very low energy beach, backed by a beach ridge and 50 ha mangrove-filled lagoon, while it is fronted by 200 m wide tidal flats, together with a scattering of mangroves along the shore.
