Beach NT 978 begins on the south side of the 50 m wide creek, which drains a 100 ha area of mangroves. The beach faces northeast and trends relatively straight for 2.6 km to a second tidal creek. It receives waves averaging about 1 m which maintain a continuous 50 m wide bar.
