The backing barrier is 2 km wide in the north and consists of inner recurved spits fronted by continuous beach ridges, which in the south have prograded for 2 km past an earlier extension of beach NT 1458. The creek trends southeast and separates these two sections of barriers. The beach is fronted by sand flats, which widen from 500 m in the north to 1.5 km off the creek mouth.
