Beach NT 1487 extends from Mountain Creek for 6.2 km to the southeast to the next creek mouth, the last on the Territory coast. The beach is relatively straight with permanent creek mouths to either end. It is fronted by 1-2 km wide sand flats, and backed by a low 1 km wide vegetated barrier, containing some remnants of earlier dune activity. This is in turn backed by variable 1-2 km wide salt flats, then a narrow section of the backing coastal plain that just reaches the back of the barrier.
