Beach NT 1479 is a 5.1 km long barrier spit that extends between two creek mouths. It has migrated 2 km across the western creek mouth overlapping beach NT 1478. Sediment is moving along the beach in the form of 1-2 shore-parallel bars, a product of slightly higher wave energy, with wider tidal shoals off each creek mouth. A 6 km wide sequence of approximately 12 Holocene beach ridge-spits backs the beach, which are in turn backed by the inner reaches of the tidal creek and another 6 km of salt flats.
Beach Length: 5.1km
