Beach NT 1483 commences on the eastern side of the Calvert River mouth. The 4.9 km long beach is the outermost in a series of several spits that have prograded the shoreline 2 km into the gulf. The eastern end of the beach is also backed by older spits that prograded the shoreline of the boundary creek 1.5 km. The creek is a distributary of the river, which forms a delta mouth island, with the beach forming the northern boundary. The creek was blocked by a partly vegetated berm in 1997, and may break out during wet season floods. The beach has extensive river mouth shoals off the western end which narrow to 500 m wide ridged sand flats to the east, widening again at the creek mouth.
Beach Length: 4.9km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
