Beach Q 40 commences on the northern side of 500 m wide Duck Creek and trends northeast for 17.8 km, past one small creek to the mouth of Snake Creek, where it curves round into the creek mouth. The beach appears to be eroding along the major central portion where mud flats front the coarse steep high tide beach. The beach is backed by older Holocene deposits that extend 2-4 km inland. There is vehicle access to the coast in the south along Kelso Creek and to the northern end at Snake Creek where a landing ground is also located.
Beach Length: 17.8km
