Beach Q 271 commences on the southern side of a 500 m long section of steep 40-50 m high vegetated bluffs, with vehicle access to the top of the bluffs. The low tide bar continues south from beach Q 270, beneath the bluffs, to this beach. The beach continues south for 2.4 km as a relatively exposed beach, terminating in lee of an offshore reef that has enabled a slight protrusion in the backing shoreline. It is a moderately sloping, yellow sand, high tide beach, fronted by a 100 m wide low gradient bar containing some scattered intertidal rock flats and low tide rips. It is backed by low vegetated bluffs and the vegetated dune field, which reaches a maximum height of 108 m at Left Hill, 1.5 km west of the beach.
