Beach Q 266 extends for 600 m between the point and the base of Ussher Point. It is protected from southeast waves by Ussher Point and rock reefs, resulting in a narrow high tide beach fronted by a 100 m wide intertidal bar, then shallow subtidal sands out to the reefs. It is backed by partly vegetated, steeply climbing older dunes which rise to 50 m. The older transgressive dunes that commence in lee of beach Q 263 continue south for 2.5 km to the southern end of beach Q 265 and extend up to 3 km inland as longwalled parabolic dunes, climbing to a maximum height of 94 m. Offshore of these beaches are shore transverse sand waves which probably the product of waves and tidally induced northward sediment transport.
Beach Length: 0.6km
