Beach Q 416 commences on the southern side of the 400 m long granite headland, and trends due south for 1.6 km to a small creek mouth, which also marks the southern boundary of the Iron Range National Park. The exposed beach is backed by moderately active blowouts climbing 100-200 m inland over sloping bedrock terrain. The beach has a low gradient 200 m wide low tide bar, with deeper reefs further out into the bay.
