Chilli Beach (Q 411) is one of the better known and visited cape beaches. There is vehicle access to the northern end and the wide low gradient beach is suitable for vehicle traffic. It trends to the southwest, then curves to the south for 7 km into the protected Albatross Bay. For the most part it consists of a narrow high tide beach, fronted by a 100 m wide low tide bar, then a continuous fringing reef extending up to 500 m off the beach, together with granite boulders scattered on and off the northern end of the beach. The beach is backed by a 300-400 m wide series of early Holocene foredunes. A creek mouth forms the southern end of the beach, which together with the protection from Cape Griffith has formed 500 m wide tidal sand flats in the southern corner.
Beach Length: 7km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
