Beach Q 53 commences on the northern side of Horse Creek and extends north for 18 km to Topsy Creek. The southern half of the beach is eroding into earlier Holocene beach ridges and salt flats, while the northern half widens from a 0.1-1 km wide series of beach ridges. The moderately sloping sandy beach is fronted by continuous low tide bars and rips skewed to the north and spaced about every 200-300 m.
