Beach Q 57 commences on the north side of the 500 m wide river mouth and trends northeast for 6 km. The beach represents a more recent barrier island that has developed 1 km westward of the former shoreline as well as extending northward 1-2 km, with mangroves and salt flats separating it from the inner shoreline, which is in turn backed by up to 13 km of Holocene ridges and salt flats. The beach is fronted by extensive intertidal mud flats. At its northern end it overlaps beach Q 58, a curving 6 km long west-facing low energy beach, backed by several beach ridge-foredunes, then the 5 km wide tidal flats of North Arm. It is fronted by wide intertidal mud flats and terminates at the mouth of North Arm.
Beach Length: 6km
