Beach Q 44 commences on the northern side of a 3 km stretch of mangroves. It then trends north-northeast for 9.3 km to the 50 m wide mouth of Salt Arm Creek. The straight beach is backed by older south-trending beach ridge spits, with the outer beach-barrier consisting of a 100-500 m wide series of beach ridges splaying to wider ridges and elongate spits to the south. Two fence lines reach either end of the beach and the Inkerman prawn farm is located on the salt flats behind the northern junction to Salt Arm Creek. Beach Q 45 commences on the northern side of the creek mouth and continues north-northeast for 10.4 km where it terminates at a mangrove-lined shore. The 50 m wide beach is moderately steep, has numerous shells winnowed from the low amplitude sand ridges that extend several hundred metres into the gulf. A solitary fence line reaches the middle of the beach. The beach is backed by several casuarina-capped beach ridges extending 400-500 m inland, with older Holocene beach ridges and recurved spit deposits widening to 1.5 km in the south. Salt flats associated with the Coolaman Swamp and inner barriers extend up to 10 km inland.
Beach Length: 10.4km
