Quintell Beach (Q 419) commences on the south side of the 50 m wide creek and continues south for 6.5 km to the mouth of the Claudie River, which enters Lloyd Bay adjacent to the Lockhart River. The beach includes the Lockhart River barge landing, with some granite boulders scattered along the beach south of the landing. Continuous 200 m wide ridged sand flats front the beach, widening to 500 m at the river mouth. The beach is backed by low vegetated terrain, with a series of elongate recurved spits forming the southern 2 km, then older mangrove-lined, spit-remnants continuing on for another 6 km south into the river mouth. Lockhart River community is located 2 km west of the barge landing and the airfield another 4 km further inland. There are basic facilities at the beach landing including a parking area, beach boat ramp and toilets.
