Beach Q 142 extends east for 2 km inside the southern entrance to the river. It is a narrow, low wave energy, north-facing strip of high tide sand, backed by the truncated end of the foredune ridges. Periodically a sand spit extends from the southern entrance of the river along the outer section of the beach, enclosing it behind a small lagoon.
