Freshwater Beach (Q 221) occupies Freshwater Bay 300 m south of the Putta Putta beaches. It has a low sloping headland to the north and the more prominent Vallack Point protruding 300 m east to the south. The beach curves round to the lee of the point and consists of a very low gradient intertidal bar backed by a low foredune (Fig. 6.39), then older vegetated transgressive dunes, which extend up to 500 m inland.
