Muddy Bay lies 2 km to the southeast and is a 1 km deep bay containing 1 km wide sand-mud flats and a mangrove-dominated shoreline. Along the base of the bay is a 700 m long chenier, the central 300 m of which are exposed to waves at high tide and form beach Q 216. The small Mew River drains out across the northern end of the beach which is fronted by 200 m wide ridged sand flats, then the mud flats.
