The beach ridges paralleling the deflected Christmas Creek form an inflection in the shoreline, with beach Q 67 commencing at the inflection and trending north-northeast for 13 km to the small Hersey Creek mouth. The Christmas Creek beach ridges pinch out at the coast 9 km north of the inflection, with the northern half of the beach backed by eroding 4 km wide uplifted interbarrier deposits, with shell-rich beachrock exposed along the shore, and in places eroded to form storm boulder ridges. To the lee of the interbarrier depression is the 1-2 km wide inner Pleistocene barrier. The beach is relatively steep, shelly, interrupted by the beachrock and prone to overwashing.
