Beach Q 59 is located between the mouths of North Arm and Coleman River, both large tidal creeks connected to the Mitchell River 15 km to the south. The beach is a 2.5 km long west-northwest-facing barrier island, backed by overwash flats that widen to 200 m in the north, then extensive mangroves, salt flats and tidal channels. It is fronted by wide mud flats with the tidal channels to either end.
