At the point the shoreline turns and trends northeast for 1.7 km to sandy Urquhart Point as beach Q 114, which has beachrock exposed along the shore. This beach faces north across the South Channel of Embley River, whose deep waters and strong tidal currents parallel the beach. Both beaches are backed by a series of 10-15 recurved beach ridge-spits, which curve round into the river entrance.
