Garrirri Beach (NT 1037) forms the western shore of Rocky Bay. The 1.6 km long beach initially faces east, curving around in the south to face north. The beach is the outermost of up to ten beach ridge-spits in a 1-1.5 km wide series that have filled the outer portion of a 4 km deep embayment. A creek borders the southern end of the beach and connects a backing 200 ha mangrove-filled lagoon with the bay. The beach has a continuous bar in the north, but receives increasing protection to the south from a prominent headland. This permits tidal sand shoals to extend up to 500 m off the creek mouth. There is vehicle access to the creek mouth which is used for launching small boats.
