The southern section of the beach (T 112) extends from a cluster of shore-tied rocks for 1.2 km to the submerged rocks of Shelly Point. This beach curves slightly to the southeast in lee of the point and is usually dominated by a few rips between the rocks and point. It is backed by a 50-100 m zone of hummocky foredune with the small Freshwater Creek reaching the centre of the beach. There is beach access midway down the beach and at a car park at the point. The Dark Hollow surf break is located towards the northern boundary rocks, with a second break at the point.
