Beach WA 1979 commences on the northern side of the 100 m wide northern tidal creek mouth. The beach continues north for 2.6 km to the inner boundary with the calcarenite rocks of Cape Frezier (Fig. 4.419). It is backed by a spit that widens from 200 to 500 m towards the creek mouth, then 1.5 km wide salt flats. A vehicle track runs around the perimeter of the salt flats to reach the creek mouth. It is fronted by a 1 km wide beach and tidal flats, consisting of an inner ultradissipative beach that narrows from 500 to 200 m in the north, then a 500 m wide veneer of sand and finally low gradient outer rock flats.
