Admiral Bay occupies the northern part of the embayment from the mouth of McKelson Creek to Tyron Point. In between are four beaches (WA 1987-1990). Beach WA 1987 commences at the creek mouth and trends to the northwest to a northerly inflection which marks the beginning of the more open wave dominated shoreline. The beach is 1.8 km long and has slowly migrated northward eroding into the backing foredune ridges, truncating them at right angles. The erosion is caused by the northward migration of the southern spit (WA 1986) as it has moved into the creek mouth, causing the creek to move northward and erode into the ridges. The low energy beach faces southwest across sand shoals and the deep tidal channel, with tidal flats extending up to 4 km seaward.
Beach Length: 1.8km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
